Homeworld 2 modding
-
Is there someone who modded HW2? Is it hard, easy? Complicated like FL modding? Because I allways wanted to make a HW2 mod, fighting in FL is neat but great capship battles in HW2 are even more
-
getting new ships into HW2 is a bit of an ordeal, but tools are out there now, so its probably easier than when I did it.
everything is controlled by LUA scripting. It’s tedious, but its not hard.
-
Could be good effects adding some of the better FL mod ships to HW2.
-
Fl capitals battling in huge HW-like battles…hell yea!
Also Maya is required for modding HW2 ships or it is adviced to have, right?
-
IIRC… Maya 6 was the only version that worked with the plugins required. That may have changed though.

I felt the need to dust off my copy of homeworld 2 today and decided to have a scratch around for any updated graphics mods, and what do you know!

and some crazy gang are even pretty close to doing a black mesa by bringing hw1 into the hw2 engine with all the models and textures looking really good too.

Hmm interesting, but dunno if I like that bump mapping. On the other hand the Remastered mod looks neat. That Kushan Cloak fighter or how is it called is pure porn.
-
That’s the problem with nearly every “HD” mod: add noise, whether that’s grime, bumps, whatever. It makes them look “detailed”, but it’s got no pattern or logic to it.
-
I agree with FF - plus, my poor old single-cpu plodder struggles more with them. And my eyesight can’t differentiate either.
And my beard gets in the way.
And when they are too realistic-looking, the fun has gone.
But still, it is often excellent work and a wonder to behold.
-
Yeah when the game reduces the ship’s LOD to primitive shapes all the ultra high gfx looses its charm
-
Knock it all you want, it looks great in game.
-
Not knocking, lost my stick some time ago.
Its just that my hardware as well as my organic equipment to look at it with has timed out.
