Haha thanks, I came across those too, and indeed they share some of its characteristics, especially Dubstep Cadence, but not quite. There was a third one for which the same can be said.

Hey this is weird: the version of the cover I donwloaded has a slightly different font for the subtitle: one in which the horizontal dash in the H, E, F and P, and the vertical one in the Y, is prolongued.

Cannot help identify the one from the cover, but that SVG subtitle I’m rather certain is the system font from the PS3 that was also used in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, except here it’s not italicized. Have a look:

Hey thanks! Yes that is (almost if not totally) the same font.
Maybe I can de-italicize it with Fontographer. EDIT yup: simply skew everything by 12°

I’m working on a better version of the subtitle font atm. The quick fix I did left some error message in the same folder; although I do not notice any problems, I might just create an entirely new font, based on that one. I’ll make sure to include all the special (umlauted, accented, Scandinavian, Iceland, Hungarian) glyphs too (but sofar not the Polish, because I believe those are an awful lot and I think the chance of using them will even be smaller than the Hungarian double-accented O, lol). I will upload it here, if I can do that easily. I realize that fonts is certainly not The Starport’s core business, but if I already put some effort in it, why not.

I just realized that of course I do not own the copyrights of the original font that I used as a point of departure. If that is a problem, I kindly ask the admins/mods to remove the font again.
The title, “Seventeen Sectors”, is from my overambitious mod project :lol: Don’t hold your breath until it’s finished.

EDIT now that I look at it again, I see that the uppercase-I with-circumflex and the uppercase-I with-diaeresis are just normal I’s — but those diacritics are included in the lower case variants, and there is no difference between upper- and lowercase I anyway.

As for the font on the title I search type tables galore and only came close so I think the font was designed purely for cover. However, that having been said I can dig out my type design software and put the right serifs on it and match the product up and save in TTF format. I’ve been thing on doing that long before and never followed through. Perks of having a BA in Design is a couple of semesters of typography and two years apprenticeship at a printer. I’ll put it back on my to-do list.
Edit: Looked for program to no avail. Scanned my 600+ fonts and I think the closest you’ll get is what was suggested. Sorry.

Called someone I know who was in on the Freelancer marketing. The tite Freelancer was a graphics department one off title, but the “tagline” WAS dunstep. So there you go and now you and I know. He was interested in why I asked. People seem to be looking for the original artwork which got lost somewhere or so he tells me.
Edit: Well it WAS dunstep on his dvd edition but the typeface on the 2007 jewel case cover has a differences from his like the V. Don’t ask me. The two taglines between his version and my version just in the V. Why they’d change up like that I have no clue.

As for what Moon posted, the subtitle in the SVG logo may be from a specialized promotion or something.

Sorry I thought that was rather explicitly stated that the version specified WAS a pro edition. First because it’s no paper sleeve and secondly unless it fell though a time vortex and landed in 2003 the back past the copyright bug says. “2007”. Or maybe Doctor Who dropped… No it was a promo. I picked the jewel case version it has the “pitch” HERO MERCHANT PIRATE SMUGGLER. YOU DECIDE in the same font as the tagline “A Universe…”
Now my paper sleeve 2003 edition has same front hero painting… Well I’ll shoot both for a side by side. Be back. -

Went back and asked “Mister Marketing” he gave me an exlpaination of the two different fonts on the tagline. Makes perfect sense. The european marketing went out to a firm “over there”. They did a redo of the text. U.S. version will have dunstep font, eurpean versions will Not have the dunstep font (one with characters for most languages), beacuse europe marketers used more than an english language font
(go figure ). Dunstep might have a bit of a problem with Greek or Finnish.Makes me sorry my foriegn languages are Spanish and Latin.
Big Edit. Microsoft wanted promo release because Freelancer won awards. Games always want to re-brand when they do. Even if they have to buy a couple to parade. Though Microsoft wouldn’t.
