Biocross Installation Guide needed
-
Hi i am relativley new to Freelancer and i had in mind to run a small Server in a local Network (not internet).
I tried to install Biocross as Server Administration Software because i was looking for a tool with which you can kinda act as a Game Master for the Simulation itself.
The Problem is, as far as i can tell the Programm requires SQL.
Now i have My SQL installed but i have no clue what to do to create the SQL Database so the Biocross Software would run.
Is there a Guide or something i could use?
I appreciate every help.

I initially thought you meant Ioncross but if you just want to run a small LAN server the basic FL server exe in the EXE folder is fine.
I’ve used Ioncross in the past but unless you’re prepared to add all the additional data used in a moddel FL game it’ill only work on the vanilla game data.
I assume you want to edit starting location and cash if so that’s easy enough it’s a matter of editing the mpnewcharacter.fl file in the EXE folder see below.
[Player]
name = %%NAME%%
rank = 2money = 2000 ( change)
;voice = %%VOICE%%
;All must be Trent!
voice = trent_voicecostume = %%BASE_COSTUME%%
com_costume = %%COMM_COSTUME%%system =Li01 (New York system code; change)
base = Li01_01_Base (Manhattan base code; change) -
You can also use the Disco Account Manager.
It does the same things as Biocross and its still supported

As CK256 says, if you just want basic control then it is straightforward in FL Server’s console and with a little modding as he demonstrates above.
But if you want more control such as changing equipment on players’ ships, and putting players in different systems without them flying there, then it is better to have a manager package.
I found Ioncross FL Server Op easy when I first started out, you can’t cause much problem as long as you remember that it keeps the accounts files in C:\Documents and Settings(Your Windows User login name)\My Games\Freelancer
If your user account name is John, then that would be C:\Documents and Settings\John\My Games\Freelancer
So if you get in trouble with it and FL won’t start or starts and crashes, all you need to do is delete the entire My Games\Freelancer folder along with the accounts folders inside it, and then start FL from the beginning.
As CK256 also says Ioncross FL Server Op needs to have GAMEDATA files created if you are running a modified version, but most mods have those files too, just ask if you don’t see what you want, and we have access to Lancer Solurus’s utility that will help you create them easily.
Apart from this just have a go and ask when it goes wrong or when you don’t understand something.

IFSO is outdated and Biocross is unfortunately not supported anymore and never really reached a stable state.
Your best bet is, by far, DSAM, if you actually need such a tool. Even without FLHook it’s a very good administration tool. You can grab the latest version here:

What i would need is a Programm that would enable me to be a kind of Game Master on a Freelancer Server i run.
The basic idea is to implement the Freelancer Game into a Live Role Play Game where every Player is a Pilot who can dock on a capital Ship and where a Game Master can determine where enemys are, how many etc.

I don’t think any of the Server Ops would let you do this?
You would need to get toknow a mod really well and just move players into the relevant system for combat situations.
In my mod we had an arena system where two teams could be placed, one at each end, for combat to the death of all, like team jousting. And another system with 24 levels of combat from the easiest to the hardest, so players could take each stage when they were ready and good enough.
That was quite popular wth new players as they could work their way up.
Do you realise that players can have up to 5 characters each, so they can place one in each system they are interested in, so that for example one character can be placed in an arena system and another in a jousting system? As server manager you can give them lots of money to each new character, and move them to systems where they can buy the ships and equipment they want, so you can set up very quickly.
If you say more of what you want to be able to do, people here can advise you of the easiest way to achieve what you want without going through too many learning pains.
