WARNING: FLMM mod file infection!!!!!!!
-
Do you use FLMM 1.4? It is considered less stable, and I know many people dislike it. I have some reasons to prefer it over v1.3, but I recently did have some weird problems with it, with .flmmbak files ending up in the mod folder.
Anyway, a clichee advise but true nonetheless: be prepared to do a clean install of the game every one in a while. And back up your stuff.

Delete save games/auto save perchance?
-
@moonhead: I use FLMM1.3 and no unnescesary backup files were found.
@all: I tried to delete savegames and reinstall the game & FLMM thrice, but nothing. just a big CRUSH! Even without mods, but this is not related to anything. -
right - does the game crash, or FLMM?
Does FLMM output any information if it does crash, or does it indicate anything upon start up (when it parses the files).
-
All I know is that the game crushed when the menu is suppose to appear, maby even when it loads the menu.
The crush happens only with specific mods I tried to install with my mod. -
obviously that means your mod is not compatible with certain other mods.
btw, FLSpew is the very first log i’d look into if i don’t understand a crash. -

Where do I find FLSpew? -
So your mod alone is fine, other mods alone may be fine - but combining them together results in game crash.
Why is this FLMM problem? It sounds like the mods are causing the issue… I am completely confused though, so I’m going to stop

Completely remove the FLMM and reinstall it again. I’ve had something happen in the past like you’ve mentioned. If it’s giving you problems and you are still trying to reuse it, get rid of it and download a fresh install of everything, including the MM. Deleting everything in it may not help.

Apart from your whole issue with FLMM, it is recommendable to get acquainted with FLSpew.txt!
On my laptop (running on Vista) it’s in
C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Freelancer
(actually it’s in C:\Users\gebruiker\AppData\Local\Freelancer but ‘gebruiker’ is Dutch for ‘user’ so I suppose that in an englisg version of Vista the location would be the one I gave)
In other Windows versions the location might be slightly different, but similar.
FLSpew.txt is a horrible file!! You will want to use FLSpit.vbs, which renders an easier-to-read copy of the FLSpew.txt, named FLSpit.txt file. I assume this tool can be found in the download section. If not, I can send ya a copy.
Btw it is indeed necessary to look into this file when you’re tracking errors, but you will also find errors you weren’t ware of. Some of them important, others much less so.
