    You need to look carefully in the utility you use, it will tell you the name of the dll file it is writing to.

    Then put those files in your mod folder.

    Umm - why aren’t they already there? I mod my mod in the main Freelancer folder, changing files as I go and making backup copies of changed files in a separate mod folder as they are tested.

    If you tell me you are playing freelancer, it means you’re not a proper modder, you shouldn’t have time to play freelancer!! 😄

    Indeed. I played freelancer a lot since the begining, but i decided to make my own mod so i “dont have time” to play ;D
    You were right, im not a proper modder just a rookie, but im eager to learn.
    Let me ask a factual question:
    I made an infocard for one of vanilla ships that was unbuyable, now it has entries so i can fly with that. I searched for empty slots when i found one, i filled and saved that.
    After i converted the ids_info01 to get the ids_name i filled it also, it was a VHF classed ship. The weird thing is, if i start the game and check my ship at the shipdealer, the ship’s infocard says: myshipname very heavy fighter light fighter. I checked the infocard by FL-id i thought i may missed something, but the infos are correct. there is nothing about “light fighter”.
    What could be the problem?

  • Missing weapons

    I used the vanilla weapon models. I believe it was the li_rad_launcher.3db. In planetscape it was great, but in space It just vanished, not only from sight but also from the weapon list on the hud. The textures were great in space and in planetscape too. I did used DDS textures. Hmm. I even didn’t touch the surs.

    EDIT: Could it be the HP_type?

    EDIT: Solved. It was an error in the Goods.ini. XD I forgot to put the quantifier after the weapons addon entry.

    Some of the poblems I’ve found:

    shield on cmp file missing from shiparch
    Tractor bay doors in shiparch but missing from cmp
    Infanite Power Generator causes crashes,…sometimes

    None of the “jedi” ships are listed in the mshipprops.ini
    (Jedi are the Vongs pirmary enemy)

    I’m sure there are more.

    I’m still trying to acquire the orriginal models of the Vong ships (created by eviljedi from what I understand), and barring that will need someone more proficient than I to convert them to Freelancer/Freeworlds.
    If you have these models, or are able to convert from ALA format to CMP format, or if you know how I can contact eviljedi, please let me know.

    Just don’t get your hopes up, I’ve seen to many projects for FL that claim to be “the best thing since sliced bread”, only for them never to appear.
    Concider it vapourware until you actually have an application you can use.

    It’s so easy to make your own cube, MilkShape is a doddle to use and all you need to do is to make a cube (5 seconds), make your own texture in any paint package and save it as a 1024x1024 .dds (10 minutes), apply the texture to the cube (10 seconds), export the .mat file (25 seconds), export the model (45 seconds).

    The rest (add hardpoints in HardCMP, edit the shiparch, goods, loadouts, mshipprops and maybe factionprops, npcships ini files to get it into the game) you have to do with any model anyway.

    Have a go!

    if you are using an onboard video card or intel chipsets i810 or i815 this kind of flicker with distorted letters and screen happens . you can download fix patch from here http://eoa.seriouszone.com/louvadeus.php#quickfix

    look for the file saying freelancer hardware update. just down load the file and place it in your c/programfiles/microsoftgames/freelancer/exe file and that should do the trick. but if you change mods a lot or reinstall freelancer you must replace the file again.

    this also fixes SiS igp/gpu chip set problems as well.

    Ends up that it was the custom PC ships. I moved the Jedi T fighter to the new base and I’ve been running missions for over an hour now with no crash.

    So its back to the drawing board for the custom ships.

    I haven’t tried to connect to a multiplayer server since Torch dragged me over to the Jolt server awhile back. At that time I couldn’t connect running Vista and after some painful checking it turned out to be the antivirus software.
    I found that AVG, whatever version it was at that time, allowed me to connect to the multiplayer servers but it looks like if I decide to play again I’m going to have to go through the process of finding antivirus software that don’t conflict with connecting to multiplayer servers again.

    So thanks for the reply about anvir and bit defender working.

    The plan is to get Lancers Reactor back up and running as it was back when I was running the show. In other words a great community with no conflicts between members and tons of content…

    We now have an offer to host the site that would be hard to refuse. A virtual network where the site would be hosted by servers in data centers around the world.

    If and when this happens we plan to expand Lancers Reactor into a gaming portal and most likely have an official TLR Freelancer Server up and running along with a Teamspeak server and other goodies…

    There’s really no limit to what we will be able to do because we have been offered unlimited everything, meaning bandwidth, memory, harddrive space, etc…

    So the future of the community looks like we’ll be in great shape…

    One day you’ll have kids, don’t be surprised if they turn out to look and act just like me.
