Exactly. Kinda like Flak’s system, where system chat is sent to the entire universe and system chat is done with /s.

Well, I’m not sure I’ll be needing any of those, since I’m doing a mod that turns Armada 2 into Freelancer - Not the other way around.

I agree with a lot of what WHY say’s, love his work too, but at the same time, FF makes the best possible point really. Take a look at this place, if it wasn’t for them providing a place where people could actually learn a thing or two about modding freelancer, then how the hell would anyone be able to do it in the first place.

You have to give thanks to the fact that they tell you how to do it, to then gut their mods of materials and use their guides to insert them into your own mod is just pissing in their face. Add to that the fact that someone could come onto their site and #$%% all over them aswell by advertising the fact that they have ripped the materials from their mod and apparently done a better job with them…. Well, in most places that kind of person would no longer have a voice in that place.

Therefore, I have to agree with FF, it’s all about attitude.

As I’ve said before, I really bloody wish they would all get themselves and their materials together and make one almighty starport mod, it might be a clash of personalities and styles but their would be no arguments about who owns what and who has permission to use what, they own it all already. Screw twenty great mods, have one mutha of all to rule all and one community to bring it all together for one last stand. I know, it will never happen… :-x

There are two types of computer vulnerabilities to consider when setting up a server: remote attacks and humans with access. By limiting who has physical and digital access to your server, you can reduce the risk of a human with access causing a security issue. Also, by not using the computer for regular internet browsing and ensuring files are scanned for viruses, human error is almost eliminated. A good firewall is the best way to prevent remote attacks from affecting your server. Programs, processes, and Windows services listen on open ports for all sorts of incoming connections. All an attacker has to do is know how to attack one program to make it cause undesired effects on the entire computer. Securing all of your ports by only allowing FLServer and possibly a remote desktop program to use the internet is the best way to prevent attacks.

That said, there is a vulnerability in FLServer. I have seen it prevent Windows Remote Desktop from being able to access a server while it is under attack. I am referring to the DDOS attacks. The attacker can’t make your computer run unwanted programs, but they can prevent the server from being used and make players disconnect due to lag. I have only confirmed one firewall program as being able to prevent the attacks, but I know of one other that should work. If you need a recommendation on a firewall, PM me. Discussing it in public, where the attacker can read about what we use to stop him is not a good idea.

Well, yes, when I activate the ID it does get written to the registry… but that doesn’t mean I can’t take the ID that was originally on there and put it back when I’m done 😄
